Government Housing Order… half a dozen facts

Our eggs have been laid by hens that are temporarily restricted from ranging because of an order from the Government.

This is a precautionary measure to help prevent the spread of Avian Influenza, or bird flu, which is a serious disease of poultry and can be transmitted by wild birds.

Advice from the Food Standards Agency is that bird flu does not pose a food safety risk for consumers.

Our farm continues to be approved under the RSPCA Assured label and the hens are comfortable and well cared for inside the hen house, see…

Our hens are still laying the same great-tasting eggs.

This restriction to the house is only a short-term measure and the hens should soon be back outside enjoying our wonderful Devon countryside!
